Through this course, you'll gain in-depth
knowledge and skills as you explore the limitless world of ceramics,
unlocking your unique artistic voice.

Course will be offered in English, Spanish, and Japanese, five days a week. Our objective is to help each student discover their unique style of expression our teaching methods, connecting them with their source of inspiration. Students can expect an unforgettable and creative learning experience. The curriculum encompasses the entire ceramic process, including both manual and wheel techniques, various decoration methods, glaze formulation, and standard and special firings. This course is perfect for beginners eager to learn ceramics as well as those at an intermediate level.

Chisato Kuroki

Chisato Kuroki

Chisato Kuroki, a Japanese ceramic artist residing in Barcelona boasts 35 years of experience in ceramics and 20 years of teaching. She has been recognized as a winner and finalist in numerous international competitions and biennials, and has participated as an invited artist at various art festivals, as well as artist residencies in Spain, England, China, France and Japan. Her work ranges from tableware and contemporary ceramic sculptures to large-scale experimental kiln projects. Notably, she is renowned for her innovative "Kamigama" kilns, constructed from newspaper and fired with charcoal, capable of reaching temperatures of 1200 degrees in just three hours. Additionally, Chisato has extensive experience in experimental ceramics and performances, including the creation of a tea house—3 meters in diameter and 2 meters high—crafted from 3 tons of clay and fired with wood for the International Kiln Festival.

In addition to her knowledge of Japanese techniques, her innovative spirit drives her to experiment with unique materials, resulting in many original methods. Her raku workshop is renowned and highly sought after for its creativity. As a Kundalini Yoga instructor, she blends yoga and ceramics to discover her own source of inspiration.

Studio

The studio is situated in the trendy Born area, right in the heart of Barcelona, nestled among charming old streets and just a short walk from the renowned Gothic church, Santa Maria del Mar. Housed an 18th-century building, the studio is part of the cultural association Espai Ku, artists come together to enjoy a vibrant atmosphere. You can also find, concerts, and events, especially on.

Course Information

Schedule

Classes take place from Monday to Thursday with lectures scheduled from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by self-practice from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. On Fridays, you'll enjoy seven wheel classes with Ruben Maña from 9:30am to 1:30pm in his school.
No self study time on Friday.
If time permits, we will also visit galleries and museums.

cost

The total cost is €5,500, which covers materials (excluding porcelain clay), glazes, and firings. Each student will have their own personal workspace equipped with a wheel, table, and shelving for-practice. Please note that accommodation, meals, airfare, airport transfers, additional materials, and specific equipment or firings requested for personal projects are not included.

How to enroll

Applicants are encouraged to showcase their ceramic pieces, drawings, and other relevant works. Each applicant will participate in a video conference with teacher. Please complete the contact form.

Training Policy

Please be courteous to the instructor and fellow participants. We reserve the right to remove any participant who engages in such behavior at our sole discretion. If you are removed, you will not be allowed to return to the course, and per our cancellation policy, we are not liable for any course fees or additional expenses incurred, such as travel or accommodation.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made up to 3 months before the course start date are eligible for a full refund of 100% (excluding the bank transfer fee). For cancellations within 3 months of the course start date, the deposit is non-refundable, but we can provide you with a spot in the next available course.

Cancellation by our side

We have the right to cancel a course, but we will make every effort to inform you at least four weeks prior. If we cancel a training course you have registered for, you have the option to:
- Receive a full refund of the course fee
- Choose another available training option

Users are prohibited from accessing, modifying, viewing the configuration, structure, or files of servers owned by Chisato Kuroki and shall be liable for any civil or criminal consequences arising from negligent or malicious actions affecting the servers or security systems.

Intellectual Property of Hosted Content

The use of the services provided by Chisato Kuroki in any manner contrary to intellectual property legislation is prohibited, including but not limited to:

  • Any use that violates Spanish law or infringes the rights of third parties.

  • The publication or transmission of content that Chisato Kuroki considers violent, obscene, abusive, illegal, racist, xenophobic, or defamatory.

  • Cracks, software serial numbers, or any content that infringes the intellectual property rights of third parties.

  • The collection and/or use of personal data belonging to other users without their express consent or in violation of Regulation (EU) 2016/679.

  • The use of the domain's mail server or email addresses for sending unsolicited bulk email (spam).

Users are solely responsible for the content of their website, the information transmitted or stored, hyperlinks, third-party claims, legal actions relating to intellectual property, third-party rights, and the protection of minors.

Protection of Hosted Information

Chisato Kuroki performs backup copies of the content hosted on its servers. However, it shall not be liable for any loss or accidental deletion of data by users. Likewise, Chisato Kuroki does not guarantee the full restoration of data deleted by users, as such data may have been deleted or modified between the last backup and the deletion.

Except for specific backup services, the services offered do not include the restoration of content stored in backup copies when the loss is attributable to the user. In such cases, a fee will be determined according to the complexity and volume of the recovery work, subject to the user's prior acceptance.

The restoration of deleted data is included in the service price only where the loss of content is attributable to Chisato Kuroki.

Commercial Communications

In accordance with the Spanish Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce Act (LSSI), Chisato Kuroki will not send advertising or promotional communications by email or any other equivalent electronic communication method unless they have been previously requested or expressly authorized by the recipients.

Where there is a prior contractual relationship with the user, Chisato Kuroki is authorized to send commercial communications relating to products or services similar to those initially contracted by the customer.

In all cases, after verifying their identity, users may request not to receive any further commercial communications through the Customer Service channels.
