In general, Japanese potters do not share their original glaze recipes with others.
This is especially true in traditional studios that operate under an inherited system, where recipes have been passed down exclusively from father to son or from master to apprentice.
Recently, even some traditional Japanese studios have begun to welcome foreigners who wish to learn pottery in Japan. However, traditional kiln studios still seem reluctant to share their closely guarded recipes.
However, in the courses I organize at a studio in Barcelona, as well as in the collaborative workshop with Master Inoue in Japan, we do share our glaze recipes.
This is a perfect chance for anyone interested in learning about glazes.
